About Department
The Industries Department, Government of Maharashtra plays a central role in driving efficient and inclusive industrial development across the State. It focuses on unlocking rapid growth opportunities for micro, small, medium, and large enterprises, fostering balanced regional development and high-quality employment while strengthening Maharashtra’s position as India’s leading industrial hub.
To enable this, the Department operates through a robust network of institutions that provide end-to-end support to entrepreneurs and investors. This ecosystem—comprising the Directorate of Industries, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), MAITRI single-window facilitation, Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC), Maharashtra Khadi & Village Industries Board (MSKVIB), Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (MCED), among others—assists with industrial land and infrastructure, utilities, raw-material linkages, market development and export readiness, technology upgradation, quality certification, skilling, and investor services.
Administratively, the Department functions through seven major heads and a State-wide field presence anchored by 25 District Industries Centres (DICs), supported by various Boards, Corporations, and allied institutions. Together, they translate policy into on-ground outcomes, implement schemes of the State and Union governments, and coordinate with departments and local bodies to ensure timely facilitation.
The DIC in each district serves as the single contact point for industry. It guides entrepreneurs on land and approvals, handholds MSMEs and startups through registrations, incentives, and credit facilitation, enables cluster and market-development initiatives, undertakes capacity-building and skilling programs, and provides a structured mechanism for grievance redressal. Through this integrated framework, Maharashtra offers a predictable, service-oriented environment for investment, innovation, and sustainable industrial growth.
