Maharashtra—India’s leading sub-national economy—remains the nation’s foremost contributor to GDP, industrial output, exports, and FDI inflows. This leadership is anchored in a distinctive spirit of enterprise, world-class human capital, and a predictable, pro-industry policy architecture. Through the Directorate of Industries, MIDC, MAITRI, and allied institutions, we sustain a future-ready industrial ecosystem that keeps Maharashtra decisively ahead of the curve.

Our commitment is clear: red carpet, not red tape. We are continuously upgrading plug-and-play industrial parks, logistics connectivity, utilities, and common facilities while strengthening single-window, time-bound approvals. We listen to industry, calibrate incentives, foster clusters, and support MSMEs and startups with technology upgradation, market access, and skilling—so that doing business in Maharashtra is efficient, reliable, and future-ready.

The Department is advancing a new wave of sectoral policies across fourteen priority areas—including services—to catalyse advanced manufacturing, value-added exports, and knowledge-led growth. On the ground, MAITRI functions as a true single-window system delivering coordinated, time-bound approvals, while MIDC continues to upgrade plug-and-play industrial parks, utilities, and common facilities. Our connectivity is being transformed by a rapidly expanding expressway network, the Vadhavan Port-led maritime opportunity, and next-generation transit and logistics. The new Pune airport and high-speed mobility corridors will accelerate industrial corridors and innovation nodes. In Navi Mumbai’s Education City, global universities are establishing campuses, deepening our talent pipeline; and through international academic–industry collaborations—such as Curtin University with Gondwana University—we are unlocking responsible mineral-based value addition, including the development of Gadchiroli as a steel hub.

Our development model places sustainability at its core. From wastewater management and renewable energy adoption to circularity and clear, consistent compliance, we are committed to conserving natural resources even as we expand opportunity. This balance—growth with stewardship—underpins Maharashtra’s journey toward becoming India’s first $1-trillion sub-national economy, fully aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047 and Vikasit Maharashtra 2047.

This Department and our entire industrial ecosystem will continue to stand by investors through the full life cycle of investment—from site selection and approvals to expansion and operations—troubleshooting issues with urgency and ownership. Our singular focus is to create the conditions in which businesses thrive, and people prosper.

I invite you to visit Maharashtra, experience our readiness first-hand, and partner with us in writing the next chapter of India’s growth story.
